11A What its like to be a College Student

This week we had many readings assigned to us. From the readings I came up with four inquiry questions that I feel would make good class discussions.

1.Mr.Lehrer suggests that when we have a idea we need to share it with strangers by posting it online, he says the internet is filled with so many creative people trying to get their ideas out and known and now we just have to find a way to all come together for real. Do you think putting your thoughts online is the best way to get your ideas across to others and what would be the benefit of having everyone come together?
2. I think we can all agree that the world needs creative people. One of the articles from this week says that creative people drive themselves and they have the motivation to stay up all night coming up with new ideas. So my question is how do you get that motivation to be so engaged in an idea you’re willing to stay up for hours tweaking at it.
3. One article says that by staying up late you come up with your best ideas. In another article which is “32 Innovations That Will Change Your Tomorrow”, one of the new ideas is creating a pill that makes you narcoleptic for the night. Based on the other article do you think this pill will interfere with people’s creativity and ability to think outside the box?
4. One article suggests that the most creative people are known to have the greatest toleration for long periods of uncertainty and boredom. Do you agree? Do you think boredom goes along with creativity because your mind wanders off which can spark new ideas, why or why not?

If I were to answer my first question I would say yes putting your thoughts online is a great way to communicate with others and get you ideas out there. With technology now everyone is constantly on the Internet. By putting your idea out there it’s giving others the ability to feed off of your ideas to spark new ideas off of that. Lehrer says, “The Internet has such creative potential; it’s so ripe with weirdness and originality, so full of people eager to share their work and ideas.” I agree with Lehrer I believe this is all true and its great because originality is was creativity is all about. These ideas need to be known about and I don’t think there’s a greater place to put them other than the Internet where millions can see them. And to answer the last part of the question, which is what would be the benefits of having everyone come together. I think it would be very beneficial to have everyone come together that way we can all bounce ideas off of each other. I believe we get our best ideas and that “aha moment” when we talk with others because something they say then sparks something new within you.
