Earlier this week I went to the club fair. I went once I got
out of media class; there was a ton of tables in the academic quad so I decided
to take look around. In high school I was never involved in many clubs and one
of my goals as a freshmen in college is to join as many clubs as I can. So far
I have joined ProCon but one is not enough. One club that really caught my eye
was the Best Buddies club.
About Best Buddies:
Best Buddies is an international organization that promotes
the inclusion of all people. They pair Southern students with someone that has
an intellectual disability and facilitate their friendship. Once you get your
buddy you can talk to them at least once a week and hang out with them twice
during the month.
This club grabbed my attention right away. My high school
actually had this club as well but the times didn’t work for me so I was unable
to join. I’ve always loved working with kids because they’re always so happy
and their smiles are always contagious! I went with my friends Emma and Lauren
and they as well had an interest in this club so I’m excited to attend their
first meeting, which is September 18th with them!
