1A What is College
College is where you can get a broader understanding of what you want to be when you get older, its a place to increase your knowledge. Being a college student means that you want to get a good education to eventually get a career. Where you end up after college depends on your major and what you want to be. For example, if you want to go into nursing you have to take specific courses for that major and that will then guide you to the right job. In my case since I'm undecided I am taking basic classes and joining clubs to keep all options open which will hopefully help me find what major is right for me. To me everything I do here determines where I end up after college so I think its very important to focus on the academic aspect first. Its also important to be social and get to know people because you want the full college experience. It also helps to know people because you can always go to them for help if you need it. I have a lot of goals this year. I want to work on time management and my studying skills the most. I think it may taKe awhile for me to find a good schedule to do my work and overall finding something I am comfortable with. I expect my classes to be helpful, meaning we review the basics in class that way when I'm working outside of class I don't get stuck and I know what to do. I also expect the schedule of the class to stay the same meaning some what of the same structure every week. Some of my first impressions would be that it's very different from high school. You have to do most of your work outside of class rather than in class which will definitely be a challenge to get used to. Since there is little class time I think it's important to use office hours and visit professors often. I think it's important to get to know them so they have a better understanding on how to help you. All in all after attending welcome weekend and orientation college seems to be just what I expected.
